Before you dig in, here's the short version of why Finmo exists and what we're trying to do differently. I'm Carter Zimmerman, and I want to tell you where this came from before you go any further.
For a long time, Canadian brokers had one real option, and that was Filogix Expert.
In 2017 we set out to improve the tools brokers used every day, but we started from a different place than everyone else. Instead of asking what features the software needed, we asked what the best possible client experience looked like, and then we asked how to make it easy for a broker to deliver that experience without adding work to their day.
We were the first to bring brokers a borrower portal and the first to bring smart documents. Finmo worked because it pulled clients down the conversion funnel on its own, and it did that while taking work away rather than adding it. The follow ups, the emails back and forth, the chasing. That is the part it quietly absorbed.
That was only the start. The space got a lot more competitive, and the new tools coming into the market started to outpace what the legacy platforms could do. Along the way we settled on three things we believe about this product, and they still guide every decision we make.
Simplicity and ease of use. The next thing for you and for your client should be obvious to see, and just as obvious to do.
Less is more. We were never going to build every feature under the sun, because bloated software helps no one. We would rather bring the genuinely essential tools into the broker workflow and make it dead simple to connect to the other powerful tools you already use.
AI that earns its place. I want to be direct about this one because I know a lot of you are asking. We are not interested in AI that does your job. The relationship, the advice, the negotiation, the moment where you tell a family what actually makes sense for them, that is your work and it should stay yours. What we are building is AI that takes the monotonous half off your plate. Verifying what the documents say against what the application says. Knowing where a deal is going to fit before you send it. Telling you what needs your attention today. And for those of you who want to build your own tools on top of us, our APIs are open, because we would rather have you building with us than around us.
If we have done our job, a mortgage in minutes becomes something you can actually run your business on. You look like the tech-forward shop you are without hiring a tech team to get there. And you decide what to do with the time you get back, whether that is more volume, better service on fewer deals, or your evenings.
We are not finished. There is a lot still to build, and we will tell you when there is something worth sharing. If something is broken, missing, or just getting in your way, tell me. Finmo gets better because the people using it feel empowered to say so.
